Vietlesson - Language Center

Staff are professional and quite nice. Lessons were a bit old school, write on board and repeat after the teacher. If this style works for you, the lessons are good. If you need more engagement, maybe not.

I discovered Vietlesson through the forums. It is one of the schools that came back most often…and I am not disappointed! The first 3 lessons focus on tones and sounds, which may seem boring, but if you don't acquire a correct pronunciation, you won't be understood! Trust me!
The A1 course given by Liên allows us to introduce ourselves, to order at the restaurant, to ask our way, as well as to assimilate the numbers (probably the most important at the beginning), the months, days, seasons, adjectives…as well as to formulate small sentences explaining what we want to people. Liên is an enthusiastic girl, always in a good mood and who will make you work until you master the subject.
For the A2 course given by Hà, it allows you to build sentences by integrating more grammar and vocabulary. It also includes audio/transcription listening sessions and allows you to start talking to the native! Hà is very attentive to your progress, is easily accessible and will not hesitate to bring a local specialty to class for you to discover!
The A1 and A2 courses include board games that make you work on words while having fun, and a meeting with Vietnamese students from the English course is organized in order to exchange in the respective languages.
After these 2 levels A1/A2, I cannot say that I speak Vietnamese fluently, but I already make myself understood enough to unblock certain situations, and that allows me to create contact with the Vietnamese who love to be spoken to in their tongue!
I had a great time with Hà and Liên, and I thank them!

Sau khi kết thúc khóa Ngữ pháp cơ bản với giáo viên Việt Nam tôi đăng kí khóa tiếp theo và được học hoàn toàn với giáo viên bản ngữ, hàng tuần thầy luôn tổ chức buổi nói chuyện để tăng thêm phản xạ và tạo động lực để học viên nói dựa vào kiến thức đã được học, buổi nói chuyện thường tổ chức vào Chủ Nhật hàng tuần.

I had five private lessons with Lien, she is an amazing teacher and I can't believe how much I learnt in such a short amount of time. Highly recommended.

I really recommend this school! I have just taken 4 months of courses and I already feel way more confident.
The courses are very interactive and teachers, Ha and Lien, really make you participate, which greatly helps with speaking. Moreover, there are very few students per course so they know your strengths and weaknesses.

Vietlesson is a great language center to learn Vietnamese. Lien and Ha are amazing teachers and we are so grateful. They helped us so much. We can now talk a little bit more Vietnamese to my birth family. When I arrived in Hanoi in July I felt out of place because I didn’t know much Vietnamese and now I know more and I can talk and understand others. Thank you.

Vietlesson is a great place to start your Vietnamese-journey. I did the A1 and the A2-Course and it was a great basis to start talking Vietnamese. The teachers Lien and Ha are awesome, super helpful and joining the courses is a lot of fun. Also, the manager and the other staff is very supportive, flexible and nice. Fully recommend Vietlesson to everyone who wants to learn Vietnamese.

I enrolled with Vietlesson after a recommendation from a friend. I had used a couple of other local centres prior to this but had little joy. I am currently on my 4th consecutive course and enjoy every lesson. There is a hugely useful app that goes hand in hand with each level. I have been lucky enough to have one teacher, Lien, through the whole time who is friendly, helpful and tailors each lesson for the benefit of the students. An amazing teacher and now friend! My vietnamese has improved greatly since I started so I would recommend this place to all.

I have taken multiple levels of Vietnamese (Tiếng Việt) here at Vietlesson and I have had two different instructors along the way. At first I found it difficult, but the teachers work hard to help you along with all the grammar practice, homework, and personalized feedback. I really like the online tool (Memrise) that they partner with to help you learn the vocabulary for the lessons outside of the classroom. This way your time can be spent in class learning the rules verse just learning vocabulary.

I have completed Beginner I and II and am in Intermediate I. I love it. I am addicted. The course plans are designed specifically by Vietlesson. You won’t get this approach elsewhere. And it works. You get a foundation in Vietnamese and then you go from there. You dip your toe in the water and then before you know it, you are swimming. Thank you Vietlesson.

Really, fantastic place. I did the beginner 1 class earlier in the year and it was such fun. Vietlesson seem to get a nice balance of being informal and professional. You are pushed to do well.

They incorporate an app into their learning process, which is a great way to build vocab at home. The teaching approach has a bit of an edge on other schools, insofar as they start right from the start and teach you the Vietnamese alphabet. It's a chore at the beginning, but later on you have the building lessons to teach yourself Vietnamese.

In Lien, they have one of the best teachers - and nicest human beings - you could hope to meet. Thoroughly recommend Vietlesson as the place to get your language learning started!

The best place I've lesrned vietnamese. Would highly reccomend it. They offer 6 different levels of courses and offer 100% vietnamese in the upper intermediate course if the students want it. The teachers I ahve learned with (Hà and Liên) really know what they are doing and are very flexible.

I have been taking Vietnamese language courses at Vietlesson since September 2019. I have taken Beginner 1, Beginner 2, and am currently taking Intermediate. I have been so thrilled with the quality of instruction with Vietlesson since our first lesson.

Class sizes are small, which allows for individual attention from the teacher. The atmosphere overall is comfortable and friendly, and I have made great friends through my language class. The teacher, Liên, is absolutely wonderful - her friendly manner, sense of humor, and real desire to help all students learn makes learning a new language fun, even when it is a challenge.

The courses emphasize pronunciation from the start of Beginner 1, which is incredibly important when learning Vietnamese. Additionally, the courses balance vocabulary, grammar, writing, reading, listening, and speaking practice wonderfully. Since Vietlesson also offers English courses, students can participate in language exchanges, which allows the students to practice their Vietnamese skills with native speakers. The courses also pair with a vocabulary app (Memrise) which I have found incredibly helpful in learning new vocabulary.

Moreover, Vietlesson Coffee House offers a comfortable seating area to chat before and after lessons and offers a nice selection of coffee and other drinks (the ginger tea is incredible).

I could not be more pleased with the quality of Vietlesson and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to learn Vietnamese!
